IN A NEW ROLE
KINGSFORD SMITH AS MOTORIST. (United Press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.10 p.m.) Sydney, January 4. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and two companions were in a new role to-day. Using an Australian-made sports car they began : non-stop trip to Melbourne from Sydney at dawn. They expect to reach Melbourne to-night and be back in Sydney to-morrow. The total distance is about 900 miles. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s companions are Mr Marks, the designer of the car, and Mr S. Neilson, secretary of the New Zealand Aero Club.
