MATAURA NEWS

(From Our Correspondent). A complimentary social was tended Mr and Mrs W. Folster, jun., in the Tuturau Public Hall on Friday evening on the occasion of their recent marriage. There was a large attendance present. Mr W. Muir, sen., occupied the chair and presented to Mr and Mrs Folster an eight-day clock and set of jugs, at the same time eulogizing their work on the various local organizations. Mr Folster briefly responded on behalf of himself and his wife. Subsequently a dance was held Messrs W. Muir, jun, and A. Blair acting as M.C’s. The music was supplied by Messrs McDonald (piano), Duncan (violin) and J. Collie (accordian). “Sports” Service.

The annual “Sports” Service conducted by the pastor of the local church of Christ was held in the Regent Theatre on Sunday evening and was attended by a good number of members of the various sports bodies in the town. An appropriate discourse was given by Mr W. S. Lowe. Prior to the service the Mataura Town Band paraded by way of Bridge street to the theatre.
