BATTALION BAND
CONCERT TO-MORROW EVENING.
On Sunday evening in the Civic Theatre the Battalion Band will give another of its popular concerts, and as usual a varied and pleasing programme has been arranged. An item of interest will be the first appearance at these concerts of a new party, “The Aloha Four,” vocalists and instrumentalists, who perform on those popular instruments, the Hawaiian guitar and ukelele. Vocal numbers will be given by Miss Doris Prentice and Miss Rita Caulfield, while Mr W. H. Roberts will be the male vocalist for the evening. In the instrumental section Mr V. Le Petitt will be heard in violincello solos, and Master Roy Wesney on the xylophone. Interesting numbers to be played by the full band include an intermezzo “Pomona.” This piece includes a special part for the tubular bells, a beautiful toned instrument occasionally used in a brass band. Another number by the band is “A Musical Switch,” this piece being of a humorous character arranged from well-known melodies by Kenneth Alford. The band is in good form at present, and should provide good entertainment for its audience. Mr R. Henry, L.A.8., F.T.C.L., will be the accompanist for the evening and Mr Alex. Sutherland stage manager. Admission will be by silver coin, and as this is within the reach of everyone the band requests that each person contribute liberally and help the band’s finances.
