POST’S AIR DASH
CRASH IN ALASKA AVIATOR ESCAPES UNHURT PLANE DAMAGED (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) New York, July 20. A message from Flat (Alaska) states that Wiley Post, who is flying solo round the world, crashed late on Thursday in an airport field. The aviator was unhurt.
The plane nosedived and the propeller was bent and the landing gear damaged. Post was lost for seven hours over Alaska. It is believed that he will be able to take the air again on Friday. Post was previously reported as overdue at Fairbanks (Alaska) and it was thought that he was making a non-stop flight direct to Edmonton (Alberta). An earlier report stated that the United States Army Signal Corps was advised by its station at Nome (Alaska) that Post passed there at 7.30 a.m. (Nome time).
