EMPIRE DEFENCE
NEW ZEALAND’S PART. (Special to the United Press Association, New Zealand.) London, July 20. Mr G. W. Forbes responded to-day to a request by the Imperial Defence College for an address on defence matters in New Zealand. This . college is for senior officers who are being trained for higher posts. Mr Forbes spoke of the part New Zealand was playing in Empire defence. He explained the effects on New Zealand of the world depression and the retrenchment in defence expenditure and services that had been necessary in consequence. He stated: “Within these possibilities we are doing our best to maintain our scheme of Empire defence.”
