WOODLANDS NOTES

(From Our Correspondent) The Ladies’ Guild of the Woodlands Presbyterian Church held a successful sale of work in the hall on Thursday afternoon and evening. The Rev. G. Renwick, who opened the sale of work, congratulated the ladies on their fine display. During the evening a short concert was given. The following was the programme. Recitation, Master Campbell Sellars; song, school children; recitation, Miss Betty Montgomery; song, school children; recitation, Miss Jean McHardy; recitation, Miss Joyce Hargest; song, Miss Doris McKenzie; song, Mr R. M. McKenzie. The choir, under Mr G. Piercy, contributed two items. Tlie accompanists were Mrs T. Wyeth and Miss A. Sadlier. At the conclusion of the concert Mr W. Bell proposed a vote of thanks to the performers and Miss Kane who trained the school children. •’

The following were in charge of the stalls: Work stall, Mesdames Piercy, Robbie and Walker; produce, Mesdames Anderson and McKenzie; sweets, Misses Schmidt and McKenzie (2); tea rooms, Mesdames Schmidt, McKinnel, Wright, and Miss Corrie; Christmas tree, Mrs Caird; competitions, Mr and Mrs J. Sadlier (jun.), Misses Frew, McNay, and Clark and Mi- Hargest; sheep weight guessing, Mr Hannan. The prize-winners were as follows: Shooting, Mr Mills; nail driving, Mr J. Sadlier, jun.; candle lighting, Mr E. Hargest; wool winding, Mr and Mrs Howe; Guessing weight of cake, Miss Harper; potato race, Miss E. Hargest.
