SECONDARY SCHOOLS
PRINCIPALS MEET. REMITS FOR DEPARTMENT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May’lo. The Secondary Schools Principals’ Association passed the following remits: That it is advisable to have one set of regulations for the administration of primary schools; That the Department be urged to institute a school leaving certificate this year; That the present system of allocating capitation be revised; That there should be a revision of the system of awarding university entrance scholarships with a view to allowing more specification and lessening the physical strain of candidates. A combined meeting of Secondary Schools Principals and Assistants carried remits urging the co-ordination of all branches of post primary education and treating by the Department of the leaving certificate as one of urgency.
