REDUCED DISCOUNT RATE.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.45 p.m.) Melbourne, May 10. Senator Massy Greene, chairman of the Loan Council, announced to-day that the Commonwealth Bank proposed to discount Treasury bills from June 1 at 21 per cent., which represents a further reduction of a quarter per- cent, in the discount rate. The rate has been progressively reduced since July, 1931, from 6 to 2J per cent. The latest reduction will mean a saving to the various Governments of £130,000.
