COLOMBO SMALLPOX EPIDEMIC. NEED FOR VACCINATION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Colombo, December 20. Thirty-six cases of smallpox have been reported to date, but the situation is under perfect control. The port surgeon expresses the opinion that it is absolutely safe for tourists to land if they are vaccinated. All ships’ workers and agents have been vaccinated, and no person is allowed on board unless vaccinated. Ships entering the port have been warned by the authorities. Passengers have been advised that it is unsafe to land unless they have been vaccinated, but there are no restrictions regarding the landing of passengers. There was a lull during the weekend, only one case being reported.
