GANGSTER KILLED
POLICE RAID HEADQUARTERS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Chicago, December 20. Frank Nitti was killed when the police raided a gang headquarters in a city office building. The seven gangsters present lined up to the wall meekly enough until the officers noticed Nitti slip a small paper into his mouth and chew violently. A policeman leaped to snatch the paper, and Nitti drew a revolver. Ten shots were exchanged before Nitti fell dead. The mysterious paper contained a list in code of suspected names and persons marked down for death in the “beer wars.”
