COOKS AND STEWARDS
EMPLOYMENT ON SHIPS. CONCILIATION COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 3. Representatives of the shipowners, cooks and stewards, met in the Conciliation Council to-day to discuss the terms of the new award governing employment on New Zealand ships. In the morning a comparative examination of the two sets of proposals was begun and in the afternoon the proceedings were taken in committee. The sitting is to continue in committee to-morrow. So far there is a wide gulf between the proposals as affecting wages and hours, the principal disputed items.
