GOVERNMENT DEFEATED.
OPPOSITION LEADER’S BILL.

Adelaide, October 7.
The Hill Government was defeated in the Assembly by 27 votes to 16 when the leader of the Opposition, Mr Butler, was successful in having progress reported on the Wheat Storage Bill.
The Premier, Mr L. L. Hill, had earlier threatened that the Government would have seriously to consider its position if the Bill, introduced by the Leader of the Opposition as a private member, was passed.
STATE’S FINANCES.
DEFICIT EXCEEDS A MILLION.
Adelaide, October 7.
In the Assembly, the Premier, Mr Hill, stated the estimated revenue for 1932-33 was £10,056,807 and the estimated expenditure £11,244,300, the estimated deficit being £1,187,493 compared with £1,063,360 last year. The unemployment position had shown a marked improvement, the seasonal outlook was encouraging and there was every prospect of a record wheat harvest.
