RECENT MEETINGS.

At the monthly meeting of the Court Star of the Forest, No. 8213, Ancient Order'of Foresters, held in the public hall, Woodlands, C. R. Bro. C. Frew presided over a fair attendance. P.C.R. Bro. L. Bonney reported that at the halfyearly initiation ceremony competition for Court Star of the South’s shield held at Gore the previous week, the officers of the Court Star of the Forest were placed second to Court Star of the South’s team. P.C.R’s. Bros. J. S. Sadlier and W. Bridges were re-elected to the positions of treasurer and secretary and P.C.R. Bro. L. Bonney was appointed delegate to annual district meeting. The visitors’ toast was responded to by Bro. J. H. Coleman, Court Roderick Dhu, Wanganui, and P.C.R. Bro. B. F. Eastlake, Court Southern.

The quarterly summoned meeting of Court Southern, No. 9298, held in St-. Aidan’s Parish Hall was well attended. C.R. Bro. J. C. Jack presided. A notice of motion to alter the place of meeting was defeated. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:—C.R., Bro. R. C. Haywood; S. Bro. W. T. Lawrence; treasurer, Bro. J. Forrester (re-elected); secretary, Bro. W. Bridges (re-elected); minute secretary, Bro. R. Smithies (reelected); S.W., Bro. E. Stiles; J.W., Bro. B. T. Eastlake; 5.8., Bro. W. Feaver; J. 8., Bro. J. C. Pasco; auditor, P.C.R. Bro. D. D. Kerr; trustee, P.C.R. Bro. J. O. Troon (re-elected); delegates to annual district meeting, P.C.R.’s Bros. W. Bridges, B. T. Eastlake and D. J. Smith. It was decided to nominate P.C.R. Bro. B. T. Eastlake for the position of District Beadle. P.C.R.’s Bro. T. Donovan and C. McEwan, of Court Star of the South had a busy time acting as scrutineers and installing officers, the duties of which they carried out efficiently. It was decided to accept an invitation to pay an official visit to Court Queen of the South. The secretary reported that he had received two entries for the James Macfie Memorial scholarship prize which was open to all children of Foresters or members of juvenile courts.
