LIMEHILLS NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.)

The annual meeting of the Limehills Tennis Club was held in the hall on Friday evening last, the president, Mr H. Phillips, presiding over a good attendance of members.

In moving the adoption of the bal-ance-sheet, which showed a credit of £5 14/6, the president thanked the members for their support during the past season and bespoke the same support for his successor. He mentioned that the club’s balance was smaller this year than last, partly because in conjunction with the Basketball Club, extensive improvements to the fences and grounds had been carried out. Several valued members had been lost to the club during the past year through transference from the district, including Mr L. R. Lewis who for many years, was treasurer, Mr and Mrs Dixon and Mr and Mrs R. J. Fraser. The following office-bearers were appointed for the ensuing year—Patron, Mr James Doherty (re-elected); president, Mr H. Phillips (re-elected); vicepresidents, Messrs H. Doherty L. Brosnan and B. D. Mehaffey; secretary, Miss N.' Stewart; treasurer, Mr J. Stewart; selectors, Messrs H. Phillips, R. Reid and L. Brosnan; delegates to centre, president and member of committee; auditor, Mr J. A. Stewart; social committee, Misses Campbell. Payne and M. Egerton; club-captain, Mr H. Phillips; deputy captain, Miss E. Payne; emergency committee, Messrs R. Reid, H. Phillips and Miss Stewart. The subscriptions were fixed at 17/6 for men and 10/- for ladies, with a rebate of 2/6 if naid before November 1. The fees for first year players are: men 8/-; ladies 4/-. It was resolved that the club supply balls for the year. The opening day was set down for October 1, when a match will be played between the president’s team v. the vice-president’s team. Cricket Club. A meeting called on Friday night to discuss the formation of a cricket club lapsed for want of sufficient attendance. Last year keen interest was shown in this game in the district, and it is thought that insufficient notice may have been the cause of the apparent apathy shown towards the meeting called. Many are of the opinion that if another meeting were called and given due publicity, sufficient support would be forthcoming to warrant the formation of a Limehills Cricket Club.
