AIR JOURNEY
PRINCE OF WALES SAFE ARRIVAL AT COPENHAGEN STRONG HEAD WINDS (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, September 22. The Prince of Wales with his suite in the Imperial Airways liner Hercules reached Copenhagen safely this evening. During the latter part of the journey the air liner was escorted by 15 Danish naval and military aircraft. The Prince was the first to leave the air liner and was immediately greeted by the Crown Prince Frederick and other members of the Danish Royal Family and many distinguished figures in Danish public life together with the British Minister, Sir Thomas Hohler, and other officials. The Prince received also a most enthusiastic greeting from a crowd of many thousands assembled at Kastrup Aerodrome. The weather somewhat retarded the Prince’s arrival. After leaving Croydon this morning strong head winds reaching gale force were encountered over the Channel, and this made the journey longer than expected. The liner landed at Amsterdam, where the Prince had a light lunch before the journey was continued to Hamburg. It was the first occasion on which the Prince had set foot on German soil since the war. Most of the members of the British colony were among the great crowd assembled at the aerodrome to greet him. After 40 minutes’ halt the giant plane set off on the last stage of its flight. The Prince is expected to remain at Copenhagen for about a week and will pay a private visit to the King and Queen of Denmark when he has opened the British Trade Exhibition on Saturday. He will be accompanied by the Crown Prince of Denmark. At the end of the month the Prince will pay his first visit to Stockholm, and will be the guest of the King and Queen of Sweden.
