BLUFF NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.)
A meeting of the social committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr N. W. McGorlick, being in the chair.
It was decided that the annual dance and euchre tournament would be held in the Town Hall on Monday night, August 15. Another function of the near future which is attracting interest is the sale of works and concert organized by the Ladies’ Guild of the Presbyterian Church. This will be held on August 8 and 9.
A pleasant evening was spent at Greenhills recently when various phases of first aid work were demonstrated by the local senior and junior members of the First Aid Class. Under Corporal J. Haberfield, the junior squad were seen in stretcher work. The seniors, under Corporal G, Tait, gave a demonstration of the measures employed in artificial respiration, while Private J. Bremer showed the methods used in dealing with fractures and haemorrhages. During the evening dancing was indulged in, Mr R. Parsons filling the role of M.C. An attractive fancy dance was given Kjy the Misses E. and U. Calder, while much amusement was caused by a humorous item entitled “Operation for a Broken Heart,” in which the part of the doctor was taken by Mr L. Mouat. The evening was successful in every way. Proceeds were in aid of the local First Aid Class.
