NEWFOUNDLAND PREMIER CLEARED.

As a result of his investigations into charges by the former Minister of Finance, Mr Peter Cashin, that the Premier, Sir Richard Squires, falsified the minutes of the Council to facilitate manipulations of the public funds, the Governor, Sir John Middleton, found that there was “no discrepancy, no falsification and no irregularity” in his report read to the House of Assembly to-day. Mr Cashin resigned when he made the charges.
