PHAR LAP
SOJOURN ON RANCH. CHICAGO VISIT PLANNED. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 7.0 p.m.) New York, March 22. Phar Lap will be taken to a ranch near San Clemente to rest. Mr Davis, the part- owner, said he would not consider taking Phar Lap to England. “The climate there would undoubtedly be too rigorous,” he said. The horse would probably be shipped back to Australia from Chicago after the summer meetings. There appeared little likelihood that he would be entered for any of the smaller stake races. Phar Lap will be accompanied to the ranch by T. Woodcock (trainer), William Neilson (veterinary surgeon), W. Elliott (jockey) and H. Martin (rider in training gallops). Woodcock said before Phar Lap left the stable at Agua Caliente that the horse’s bruised hoof would be cured within three or four days. Mr Davis said he would take Phar Lap to Chicago for the bij stake races at the Washington and Arlington Park tracks a little later.
