PROTECTED BY ACT

GUARANTOR OF MORTGAGOR. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter). Wellington, March 8. The position of the guarantor of a mortgagor was defined by the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives to-day in reply to a question by Mr W. J. Polson who asked whether in cases where farmers have guaranteed mortgagors and the mortgagors had been protected under the Mortgagors Relief Act and the guarantor was not protected, would the Government give relief by amending the act so that farmers who guaranteed any members of their family in normal times and were now unable to meet their liability under the guarantee, would not be forced off their farms. The Prime Minister said the guarantor of a mortgagor was defined as a mortgagor under the Mortgagors Relief Act and was therefore protected to the same extent as the mortgagor himself.
