Over 200 men who have been fighting the bush fires for the last six days had their first respite to-day when the flames on three sections were under control. Scarcely had they returned to the towns, however, when a fresh outbreak occurred 100 miles from Cobar. A detachment immediately left, by lorry. Three men escaped at Innesowen by rushing into a sheepyard and dragging a tarpaulin over themselves while the flames swept over them. 'Thousands of acres of valuable grass country are reduced to a charred mass of grass tufts and smouldering trees and feuccs.
