MR CHURCHILL

SATISFACTORY PROGRESS

(British Official Wireless.)

(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, December 15. The accident which Mr Winston Churchill met with in New York apparently occurred through his momentary forgetfulness of the difference between British and American traffic regulations, and his first act was to exonerate the driver from all blame. The latest report states that his condition is slightly improved. He was in a cheerful mood following a restful night. His son Randolph received a cable reporting his father’s condition as follows: Temperature, 100.6; pulse, normal; head, severe scalp wound; two cracked ribs; slight pleural irritation on the right side and generally much bruised. His progress is satisfactory. FEELING MUCH BETTER. (Rec. 7 p.m.) New York, December 15. The doctors in a statement say Mr Churchill's condition is satisfactory. He looks and feels much better.
