TAXI-DRIVERS STRIKE
DEMAND FOR INCREASED FARES.

This, the noisiest city in Europe, has suddenly been quietened by a strike of taxi-drivers, who are demanding increased fij res.
The Mayor threatened to cancel the strikers’ licenses and introduced a hundred new cabs. The strikers retorted by liberally sprinkling the streets with tin tacks.
