SEVERAL COMPLAINTS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —During my wanders around this great city I cannot help but notice things. Last evening in Ettrick street east I noticed that even the ashphalt was getting watered with the garden Hose. If our city fathers put on some of our unemployed to go round of an evening they would be able to get enough money by means of Court fines out of these people who have no conscience in the water they waste and it would also assist to pay the expenses of our big salaried officers to attend conferences. The next thing I noticed in passing the band rotunda was the dirty electric lights which have never seen a rag since they were put there. Then ,1 went down to the railway lost property sale and would you believe it, Mr Editor, there were women there running one another for bargains, women for whom Mr Harrison Jones is begging assistance and who can dress better than I can.

Next place I wandered was down Spey street towards the gasworks and there I noticed a bit of asphalt footpath and the other half ’has got enough sweepings off the road blown on it to fill a section. This would give some of our unemployed some work which perhaps would last some time, for Mr Editor, some of them are great workers —it makes you ill to look at them. When I wander round the city again I will look up some other places which will be interesting.—l am, etc., ONE WHO SEES THINGS.
