POTATO SHORTAGE
UNITED KINGDOM’S PLIGHT. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, December 15. The prohibition of French imports owing to the ravages of the Colorado beetle, a wet season and blight in Britain brings the United Kingdom face to face with a potato famine which will intensify during 1932 through inability to obtain healthy seed, even at £25 a ton compared with £1 in 1929.
