WARSHIPS SCRAPPED
BRITISH NAVY’S RECORD. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, December 15. Jane’s Annual of Fighting Ships says there has been little to tell of the British Navy, mainly a dismal record of the scrapping of four vessels of the Iron Duke class and many cruisers, destroyers and submarines. On the contrary Italy has six cruisers and 24 destroyers capable of 40 knots, one destroyer reaching a record of 44 knots, while France is preparing trials of the giant submarine Surcouf, and is still pondering how to answer Germany's pocket battleship.
