NEW RAILWAY

SUBURBS OF SYDNEY. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, December 13. The Sun newspaper says that the New South Wales Government has decided to enter into an agreement with the Victorian Constructions Proprietary Limited which is comprised of a group of wealthy Victorians for building the eastern suburb railway, regarding which there has been continuous agitation and the cost of which will be between seven and eight million pounds.

It is understood that the contractors are finding the ready cash which will be paid back in bonds, subject to the Loan Council’s consent.

The Sun adds that the New South Wales Government accepted this offer without tenders which is bound to cause criticism. The Eastern Suburbs railway will serve Bondi, Coogee and other popular coastal suburbs which are not now reached by train.
