CAUGHT IN STORM
FISHERMAN’S ORDEAL. HELPLESS FOR 36 HOURS. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 23. Driven 40 miles out to sea in a raging storm, with high seas sweeping his 20-foot launch, Clifford Glynan, of Akaroa, a fisherman, spent an anxious Saturday night and Sunday. For 36 hours he drifted helplessly from land, and arrived back in harbour only at 1 p.m. yesterday, after having met at the heads a fleet of fishing craft that was setting out to search. His friends feared that he had foundered in the storm.
