MARINERS WARNED
WRECKAGE AT SEA. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 23. A wireless message received by the Marine Department at 9.30 this morning from H.M.S. Wakakura which left Wellington shortly before 8 o’clock this morning for Auckland stated that she passed some sunken wreckage and a mast standing about two feet above water at a point approximately one mile and a-half south of Baring Head. The Government steamer Janie Seddon was sent out to make investigations, but returned shortly before 2.30 this afternoon and reported that no wreckage had been seen. The captain said that visibility was extremely bad and the seas were rough enough to hide any trace of wreckage, unless the vessel was right on top of it. Masters of vessels are advised to keep a sharp look out for the wreckage.
