FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S ATTITUDE.

(United Press Assn. —By Telegraphy-Copyright.) (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, December IS. A member of the Federal Ministry recently stated that the Government favoured an increase in the exchange rate. The act-ing-Prime Minister, Mr J. E. Fenton, nowstates that while the Government considers that the rate should be increased, control of the matter rested with the banks and other large financial institutions. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Latham, expresses the opinion that the exchange rate should be reviewed.
