FIRST REUNION

NEW ZEALANDERS IN NEWCASTLE. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright) (Rec. 12.5 a.m.) Newcastle, December 18. A hundred and fifty New Zealanders resident in Newcastle area held their first reunion in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Auckland street. The principal guests were Mr L. J. Schmitt, New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Australia, and his wife. Mr J. Hogan, an Aucklander, was elected president of a strong executive. Mr Schmitt announced the appointment of a New Zealand sub-agent at Newcastle to deal with the tourist business. He expressed the hope that Mr Forbes, when returning from the Imperial Conference, would be able to visit Newcastle and see the vast steel workshops and other big industries.
