POWER BOARD LOAN
ASHBURTON RATEPAYERS’ SANCTION. ■ (Per United Press Association.) Ashburton, May 9. The ratepayers yesterday carried the Power Board’s loan for £85,000 for the construction and completion of electrical works, advances to consumers, and trading in appliances, the voting being: For, 1388; against, 605, or 193 over the threerfifths majority. Last year’s polling on a similar loan resulted: For, 886; against, 697 —or 65 votes below the required majority.
