During March the total live births registered for urban areas amounted to 1002 as against 964 in February, an increase of 38.
Deaths in March were 449, an increase of 43 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 227 and females 222. Forty-seven of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 10.47 per cent, of the whole number. Thirty-three of these were under one year of age.
