RAILWAY DEVIATION
PALMERSTON NORTH WORKS SUS PENDED.

Palmerston North, April IS.
Official instructions for the suspension of all work with the exception of that necessary to leave everything in a satisfactory condition, was received at the railway deviation early this morning. ’The steam shovels were stopped and the construction work ceased immediately.
Inquiries were, instituted to ascertain which men were willing to transfer to other undertakings.
The first draft is expected to leave for Gisborne on Monday.
