GREEN FOR DANGER

UNSATISFACTORY AS WARNING

HAMILTON MAGISTRATE'S OPINION.

(Per United Press Association.)

Hamilton, April 17.

That a green flag or light as a warning to motorists not to cross a railway is unsatisfactory, was the opinion expressed by the Magistrate, Mr Wilson, to-day. On a recent evening a woman driver named Grace Clark, seeing a green light at a level crossing, thinking the road was clear, drove ahead and crashed into a train.

The Magistrate remarked that green was regarded as a safety colour. In any case such signals were unsatisfactory as many people were colour-blind. Electric flicker signals were a better warning. Defendant was fined 10/-.
