PROVING SUCCESSFUL
PUBLIC SCHOOL MIGRANTS. FARMERS SATISFIED WITH BOYS. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, October 13. Confirmation of the undertaking given by Mr Amery when in New Zealand that the British Government would be prepared to make advances to desirable settlers by way of amortization loans on a 50-50 basis with the Dominion, has been received from Lord Lovat by Mr R. S. Abraham, of Palmerston North, who accompanied him to Marton yesterday. So far as public school migrants are concerned, Mr Abraham is able to prove that 80 per cent, have been successful on farms where they have been placed. Seventy per cent, of the farmers are quite satisfied with the boys, asking for more to be sent. It is considered that these boys from the great middle classes of England make the best migrant provided they are carefully selected and given money to establish themselves on farms when their apprenticeship is over.
