FIRES
OUTBREAK IN CHRISTCHURCH. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, October 13. Damage to the extent of £lOO was done to tobacco stock at the Farmers’ Co-op. store this morning. The prompt use by employees of a chemical extinguisher quelled the outbreak. BLAZE AT WESTPORT. Westport, October 14. Shortly after 4 a.m. to-day an outbreak of fire occurred in the garage and storeroom of A. G. Sime, baker and confectioner. Besides doing considerable damage to the garage the fire destroyed, apparently beyond repair, a motor delivery van. Sime is at present at Dunedin engaged in the golf championships.
