DAIRY CATTLE
NUMBER IN NEW ZEALAND. (Special to the Times.) Wellington, October 9. The number of cattle in New Zealand at January 31 last was 3,273,769 compared with 3,257,729 in 1927 and 3,101,945 in 1920. A return presented to Parliament to-day distributes the numbers as follows: North Auckland 465,050; Auckland, 733,868; Gisborne 295,401; Hawkes Bay, 202,779; Taranaki, 356,802; Wellington, 626,204; Nelson, 63,486; Marlborough, 41,046; Westland 40,206; Canterbury, 165,745; Otago 125,423; Southland 157,751. _______
