INVERCARGILL MINIATURE CLUB. Last evening at the Drill Hall the first round of the Own Handicap Cup was fired. The conditions were eight ehots and two sighters, passible 80; penalty two points for every point over possible . G. H. Smith and A. Branks tied for first place with a possible each, G. H. Smith being the winner for the evening of the Challenge Medal. A teams’ match shot in conjunction resulted in a win for the rifle club team by eight points. At the rifle meeting in the Jamieson Match of 800 yards two men—Poyitt (Sydney) and Hutchins (Yorkshire) with possibles shared first [flace. Mclver (Petone) and Vennell (Masterton) were 16th and 30th respectively each taking £l. In the Johnnie Walker Match, 900 yards, three competitors—James, Cameron and Suttor, all of New South Wales—tied with 49. Venell was 86th and Mclver 90th each with 44, taking £l. In the Motton Match, 400 yards, four tied with 49, the best being Davies (Victoria) and Natt (South Australia). There were no New Zealanders. The Longfield Aggregate was won by James (Parramatta) with 276 out of a dossible 300. The first stage of the King’s P.*i*e match is being fired to-day.—Australian Press Association. AGGREGATE ’ RESULTS. (Rec. 8.5 p.m.) Sydney, October 10. Competitors at Anzac to-day were occupied with the first sfrige of the King’s Prize Match of 300, 500, and 600 yarde. A moderate to gusty zight front wind caught many, even experienced shots, napping. The scores were not ready until late. In the Long field aggregate which is for the six matches on Monday and Tuesday, Vennell was 14th with 269, taking £4. The Dodds aggregate for three matches on Tuesday was won by Major James, of Concord with 141. Mclvor was 20th with 136 and Vennell 51et with 133, each taking £1. —Australian Press Association.
