SPEAKER’S PENSION
£4OOO PER ANNUM VOTED.
London, June 27. In the House of Commons Mr Baldwin, m accordance with precedent, moved that a pension of £4OOO per annum be paid to the retiring Speaker, Mr J. H. Whitley. Mr J. B. Clynes (Labour) moved to reduce the amount to £lOOO. He regarded £4OOO as unjustified. The amendment was defeated by 224 votes to 103.—Australian Press Association. —United Service.
