SALVATION ARMY

WELCOME TO BANDSMEN

FUNCTION AT GORE.

There was a good attendance of members of the local corps and their friends in the Gore Salvation Army Hall on Wednesday evening io extend a welcome to Bandsman Wilkes, of Invercargill, and his mother, who have taken up residence at Gore.

In the absence of Ensign Barker, the chair was taken by Envoy Hodge, who apologised for the absence of the Mayor.

A short musical programme was submitted, the following contributing items: Recitation, Mrs Hodge, Y.P.S.M.; eolo, Bandsman Coates: recitations, Sister A. Hamilton; solo, Mrs Gentles; recitation, Sister Bessie Hodge; march, band. Envoy Hodge, in a few words of welcome to Bandsman and Mrs Wilkes, expressed the hope that their sojourn at Gore would be pleasant and profitable. He also welcomed Bandsman Richards, of Invercargill, who is temporarily employed at Gore.

Bandmaster F. Gentles and Sisters Hamilton and Hodge also spoke briefly. Bandsman Wilkes suitably returned thanks.
