SACRED RECITAL

NORTH INVERCARGILL PRESBYTER lAN CHURCH. Last Friday evening the North Invercar gill Presbyterian Church Choir, assisted by friends, gave a splendid rendering of the sacred cantata “The New Jerusalem.” The soloists were: Soprano, Miss E. Randall; contralto, Mrs W. D. Burn; tenor, Mr H. Farley; bass, Mr G. Skipworth; organs, Miss Halliday and Mr N. Lightbody; conductor, Mr W. D. Burns. The programme was as follows: —Organ voluntary, Miss Halliday; chorus, “Jerusalem on High”; bass recit, “And There Came Unto Me”; duet (soprano and contralto), “There is a River”; tenor solos and chorus, ‘The Lord is Great in Zion”; bass recit, “And I Saw no Temple”; quartet, “There is no Night in Heaven”; chorus, “Him That Overcometh”; soprano solo. “What are These”; contralto solo, “Lord, Who Shall Dwell”; chorus, “There is a Land”; bass recit, “And A Voice”; bass solo, “Blessed City, Heavenly Salem”; tenor solo, “And Behold a Throne”; tenor solo and chorus, “Holy, Holy, Holy”; duet (ladies), ‘There is a Blessed Home”; male chorus, “I Beheld a Great Multitude” chorus, “Salvation to our God”; solo, Mr H. Farley; anthem, “The Sun Shall be no More”; organ solo, Mr N. Lightbody; trio, “Peace, all Lovely” (Miss Randall, Mrs Burns and Mr Farley); anthem, “Sun of my Soul.” At the close the Rev. William Tanner, on behalf of the very appreciative audience, expressed to Mr Burns, the soloists and the choir their very sincere thanks for the excellent, music they had given, expressing the hope that it might be repeated.
