NORTHERN DISTRICT SUB-UNION

A meeting of the Northern District SubUnion Executive was held on Tuesday when the president Mr C. H. Belsham presided over an attendance of the following delegates, Messrs J. Smith, J. Kelly, T. Small, M. Rasmussen, C. Carmody, G Sproat. Correspondence was read concerning the proposed sub-union tour, the secretary Southland Rugby Union forwarding a statement of the estimated cost of the tour. Mr C. Belsham reported on the meeting of sub-union delegates at Invercargill on country day and fully explained the position with regard to the northern district. After the matter had been discussed it was finally decided that the sum of £l5 be voted towards the fund. The matter of nominating players for the sub-union team was left in the hands of Mr C. Belsham, who was also appointed the northern - district selector to act with the Southland selector.

•Mr J. Pomeroy was granted a transfer from the Invercargill Club to Lumsden. It was decided to hold the second seven a-side tournament at Lumsden on Wednesday, July 18, and the fixtures set down for that week viz., July 21 be postponed until August 11. The secretary was instructed to w’rite to the Southland Rugby Union and suggest August 18 as the date for the Town v. Northern match at Lumsden. •It was decided that the return match with the West Otago team be played at Balfour and the president was empowered to make arrangements with the Eastern District for a third grade representative match at Waikaia.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the officials of the Riversdale Club for conducting the seven a-side tourney. Several delegates spoke in appreciative terms on the manner in which the tourney was conducted and congratulated the club on the excellent arrangements which had been made.
