DOG TRIALS

NIGHTCAPS FIXTUBE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS HELD FINANCIAL SUCCESS .ASSURED The 25th annual trials of the Nightcaps Sheep Dog Trial Club and Southern Collie Club Association’s championship trials for 1928 were brought to a successful conclusion yesterday in fine weather. The trials had been commenced on Tuesday last, it being the original intention to continue for four days, but on account of exceptionally heavy entries and unfavourable weather over the greater part of the week the events could not be completed as early as had been expected. The championship events on which a commencement was made on Saturday were completed comparatively early yesterday afternoon, work of an unusually high standard being witnessed throughout, especially in the second runs in each event. Mr J. Ritchie’s grounds on which the trials were held were most suitable and were in good order throughout, and the sheep supplied by Messrs W. J. A. McGregor and Fraser Bros fulfilled their requirements. There were good attendances on each day and on this account together with the large entries the trials are expected to be a great success from a financial point of vidw. A smoke concert was held last evening and at this function the various trophies and prizes were presented. There was a large attendance and an enjoyable evening

was spent. Results of the concluding events were as follows: CHAMPIONSHIP HEAD. First prize 50 per cent entry money and affiliation fees and association’s gold medal.
