At the inquest on Vlachos the Coroner returned a verdict that Vlachos died from injuries caused by Benetos and Tsontos, and that they murdered Vlachos. A revolting murder was reported from Peterborough on April 14. The body of a Greek named Joanes Vlachos was found buried in a quarry with his throat gashed and his heart cut out. A few days later the police arrested Araxtotfis Benetos, who had in his possession a number of cheques and papers inscribed with the name of Vlachos. Nicholas Tsontos was arrested later.
