ORPHAN MILLIONAIRE'S DEATH. MRS SHEPHERD IMPLICATED. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assocfation.) NEW YORK, May 7. A coroner’s jury in Chicago found that Mrs Shenherd, wife of William Shepherd, was her nusband’s accomplice in the murder of William M'Clintock, whose fortune of 1,000,000 dollars the Shepherds inherited. The evidence disclosed that the plot to obtain the fortune was hatched sixteen years ago, when William Shepherd administered mercury to M‘Clintock’s mother, causing her death. Her son inherited her fortune, and then in order to obtain this Shepherd, last December, gave the boy typhoid germs. The jury found that the accused had a guilty knowledge of both crimes. A New York cable on March 18 last stated: Chicago city has again been shocked by alleged murder revelations, which threaten to arouse as great a horror as the former Leopold and Loeb case. William Shepherd and Charles Faiman have been arrested and charged with murder by inoculation with typhoid germs in connection with the death last December of William M'Clintock, an orphan millionaire, aged twenty-one. Shepherd was the foster-father and chief heir of M'Clintock. Faiman, who is a bacteriologist confessed that he conspired with Shepherd to introduce typhoid germs into the deceased, as the victim had made a will leaving his fortune to Shepherd. Faiman’s confession gives full details of how he instructed Shepherd in bacteriology and the use of germs, etc. This knowledge Shepherd successfully applied, and M'Clintock 'died of typhoid. Faiman says he was promised 100,000. dollars The revelations are the result of the persistency of Judge Olson, whose brother also died suddenly after warning M'Clintock against Shepherd. The authorities had stopped previous investigations into the cause of M'Clintock’s death, and apologised to Shepherd.
