LAND AND AIR TRIPS
WORLD MOTOR TOUR. (Sun Special.) CALCUTTA, June 23. The American army officer and his sister, who are engaged in the motor tour of the world, arrived at Calcutta to-day, each driving a four-seater car, They will stay here to welcome their countrymen who are flying round the world, and who are expected here on Wednesday. When the officer and his sister were at Bombay at the end of last month, they explained that they had started out in one car, but had parted and driven separate cars, as they had been unable to agree who should take charge. On setting out on the trip they had three ladies with them, but these . had to drop out owing to their breaking ,the rule that none of the party was to get married before completion of the trip. The officer’s sister, who had been out of school for only a few months, said that she had had dozens of proposals of marriage on the tour.
