INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC
CALIFORNIAN OUTBREAK (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 29. Latest reports from San Francisco state that during the week ended February 18, there were 1034 cases of influenza, and seventeen deaths. The outbreak in California seems to be mild. The Minister of Health stated yesterday that the effort to clean up the cities of the Dominion ought not to be relaxed during the next few months. There had been a death from septicaemic plague in Sydney last week, and medical men stated that thfe best safeguard against influenza was vigorous health in the individual, and this health must be based upon personal and public cleanliness. Too much care cannot be exercised at ports, especially with regard to shipping from Australia and America.
