A Washington cable reports that Maurice McLoughlin, the well-known international tennis champion, has enlisted in the naval coast defence. Mr Cyril Stuck, who is on the relieving staff of the Education Board, did not pass the medical test when he enlisted in March but has now been successful and proceeds to camp on the 23rd inst. Advice has been received at Wyndham to the effect that Major Stanley Rice (a member of the Wyndham commercial firm of Hunter Bros, and Rice), who was rendered permanently unfit for further active service by loss of a leg, is now aboard a hospital ship en route for New Zealand, and should be back by the end of the present month.
