THE PRICE OF MILK
FARMERS PROTEST, (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 25. A deputation from the Wellington Dairy Association to-day waited on the Hon. W. D. S. Macdonald and entered a protest against the proclamation fixing the wholesale price of milk at 10% d per gallon. The deputation asked for a public inquiry, and tire Minister agreed to meet their wishes in this respect. The farmers considered that they had been treated arbitrarily and unfairly, having learned suddenly through the press' that they must not charge more than 10% d per gallon for milk sold to retailers. Mr Mac Donald thought that he ought to he able to get a commission going within a week, but could not promise to suspend the proclamation meanwhile.
