BUTCHERS’ ASSOCIATION
The annual general meeting of the Master Butchers' Association was held on the 20th inst.. when there was a. full attendance of members, Mr D. R. Jones In the chair. The annual report and balance were read and adopted, and the following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr D. R. Jones; vice-president, Mr W. J. McMahon; committee, Messrs W. Wills, Junr., W. .1. Turpin, T. C. Maltby, J. r. McKenzie, and J. H. Stephens. A discussion took place ou tin; question of the grading-afNmcat at the abattoirs on similar Units to that in vogue at the various freezing works, and a sub-committee was set up to make full inquiries and report to a future meeting. A vote of condolence was passed to Mrs James Humphries and family on the. death of her husband, one of the pioneer butchers of Southland.
